Luxury Wedding Cake in Somerset | Linda & Rob’s Summer Solstice Celebration

From my very first conversation with Linda and Rob, I knew this cake had to do far more than simply look the part. It deserved presence – a design that fitted in perfectly with the space of the iconic Pig Hotel. Set in the heart of Somerset, surrounded by rolling hills and garden-style blooms that felt as though they’d been handpicked that morning, Linda & Rob’s entire wedding day felt romantic, whimsically wild and completely rooted in the location.

The cake was designed with height, structure and detail in mind, where every element (no matter how intricate) had a reason and a purpose. I opted for an ivory-toned fondant, rather than classic pure white, to soften the overall look and feel. The bride’s dress was also ivory, so this worked wonderfully together.

A huge part of their wedding cake design was to weave in personal touches that meant something to them both. Lily of the Valley held special significance for Linda, so I carefully handcrafted delicate sugar versions to honour that. They also echoed the detailed lacework on her dress, bringing real sentiment to the design. Subtle sun motifs were included throughout the cake as a nod to Linda and Rob’s summer solstice wedding – nothing extravagant or too obvious, but just enough to celebrate the light, the warmth and the meaning behind the day.

Linda and Rob’s Somerset wedding was the epitome of rustic luxe. Florals lined the ceremony aisle in natural, abundant clusters. Each table was decorated with potted herbs, with handwritten slate signs and textured linens. Every detail was as intentional and indulgent as their wedding cake – it all came together seamlessly.
