An Iconic London Wedding for Sophie & Jack

Set against the beautiful, historic backdrop of The Tower of London, followed by a candlelit reception at Four Seasons, Sophie and Jack’s London wedding was modern yet elegant, with a sense of regalness. For me, it was the greatest honour to design a wedding cake that captured the essence of their love story.

It’s not every day that you see a bride make her way through the Tower of London in a sweeping silk gown and heels – but Sophie did just that. With her father serving as a Beefeater, she had the rare and wonderful privilege of saying her vows within one of the Tower’s private chapels. Steeped in history and rich with meaning, Sophie and Jack’s ceremony set the tone for a wedding day where every detail felt both poignant and personal.

The reception was held at the Four Seasons, with a wood panelled space home to crystal chandeliers that created a dramatic backdrop for the newlyweds to continue the celebrations. The mood was set with exquisite lilac and pink floral arrangements, flickering taper candles and timeless place settings. And of course, their cake stood tall and proudly as part of the setting.

From the very beginning, Sophie and Jack were drawn towards a high-end wedding cake design that embraced texture and movement. They swapped a traditional smooth fondant finish, typical of classic cakes, with something softer, more organic and just a touch theatrical (which is my idea of heaven). The intricate handcrafted sugar flowers were inspired by the romance of the blooms throughout their big day, helping to build a design that matched their floral aesthetic. Sophie adored the cut-out details I had created with previous designs and wanted to incorporate something similar into theirs. An Angela Morrison stencil used throughout the tiers created depth and interest, making it the perfect match for an occasion at the Four Seasons. White sugar paste from Couture Sugar Paste formed the base, where sugar flowers in an array of pale green, lilac, purple and soft pink, climbed the tiers to create a sculptural-inspired design.

The wedding cake wasn’t just tall. It was poised, show-stopping and quite simply, impossible to ignore. And when it was displayed against the backdrop of the dark wood panelling with the vast window behind, it matched the drama of Sophie and Jack’s wedding day perfectly.

Sophie and Jack, thank you for trusting me to bring your vision to life in the most creative, floral-inspired way imaginable. Your day was the epitome of understated grandeur and meaningful moments. And your cake reflected everything that mattered the most. If you want a London wedding cake that puts luxury and personality at its core, please do get in touch to enquire for your 2026 wedding.
