The neutral palette blended pebble and mink tones... subtle, sun-washed and elegant without feeling traditional. And the stacked tiers, with their varying heights and proportions, added a modern edge to an otherwise romantic silhouette.

A few more photos of the rather regal cake I delivered on Saturday to @the_pig_hotels at Combe last week.

L & R wanted a statement centrepiece cake for their country wedding celebrations, and the design shone in the rustic, luxurious surroundings.

I chose an ivory-toned fondant rather than a pure white to soften the overall aesthetic. Linda’s dress was also ivory, creating a beautiful harmony.

It was of great importance to incorporate lily of the valley, which holds special significance for the bride. We also included subtle sun motifs in reflection and celebration of their summer solstice wedding.

A true standout showpiece of a cake.

To celebrate her 40th birthday, the fabulous Sonia enlisted me to create an incredible ‘Emily in Paris meets Masquerade Ball’ birthday cake.

I worked closely with Sonia to design and create a three-tier masterpiece that truly stole the show. Featuring elegant clematis sugar flowers, an @maisonladuree colour palette and intricate golden detailing for extra luxury.

And if the design wasn’t ‘wow-factor’ enough on its own, Sonia opted for the most delicious flavour combinations of Rose & Pistachio, Lemon & Elderflower and Decadent Chocolate. What a treat for her guests!

This was one birthday girl who knew exactly what she wanted for her cake and it was an honour to be able to bring her vision to life at @thedorchester - an iconic setting!

From just a vision in their minds to an elegant masterpiece.

For M & K's intimate wedding at the beautiful Lucknam Park, the brief was clear: something modern and striking, but with a natural, botanical feel - and no sugar flowers! Instead of florals, I sculpted delicate, ethereal leaves that captured the elegance of nature.

The design, which also featured a subtle filler tier, was brought to life through expert techniques. This included using a bespoke metal scraper to press in vertical textures by hand, adding depth and movement to the clean-lined structure.

It’s in these details — the contrast of soft and structured, the thought behind each tier — that luxury comes to life. Not to forget the hours of meticulous preparation, impeccable precision and collaboration at every step to ensure the final result didn’t just match their vision, but exceeded it.

The bottom tier set the scene with intricate ivory ruffles, met by a divine gold sparkly tier followed by hot-pink ombre icing. And those pink flowers? Can you they are actually made from sugar! When I first started Cake Design by Holly Miller, I felt like I didn’t fit the mould when it came to ‘luxury’. My wedding cake creations weren’t always classic white, tiered designs, but instead they were elaborate, full of personality and unapologetically bold. I would often question myself if I should actually be designing what I *thought* couples wanted, rather than following my passion and creativity.

A little throwback to Christina & Paul’s flower-adorned wedding cake which I had the pleasure of designing and creating. This couple were super creative, with fabulous personalities that they wanted to shine through in their cake. They had fallen in love with one of my previous cakes, using its silhouette and texture as inspiration for their own design, while making sure it had its own bespoke touch!

Throughout their wedding day, C & P filled their venue with flowers in an array of bright colours - from the bouquet to the tablescapes! And so of course, we had to incorporate flowers into their design and I LOVE the contrast of colourful blooms against white tiers.

It is always so fun to create such different styles of cakes for each and every couple I work with, and this design couldn’t feel more apt for the season ahead!

Creating this cake for the Manchester leg of the @the.unfiltered.bride tour was pure joy!

Styled to celebrate the party’s vibrant theme - pink, glitter, confetti & disco balls 🪩 - this design was all about making a statement.

I used black @couturesugarpaste to craft a bold, dramatic base that perfectly set the mood for the evening. Hand-cut, silver-sprayed squares were meticulously added to capture that dazzling disco ball effect.

I then added the most amazing rice paper sails, airbrushed in gorgeous pink hues and dusted with layers of playful edible glitter.

The result? A fun-filled, eye-catching masterpiece that sat pride of place throughout the evening at @menagerie_restaurant

We were thrilled to be asked by the ladies at The Unfiltered Bride Podcast to create a show-stopping cake for their Manchester event and of course, we delivered and we did NOT hold back!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The theme for the event was all about pink, glitter, confetti and glamour, with The Menagerie Restaurant as the backdrop - which is a sophisticated, modern and on-trend setting with a luxurious edge.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We created a huge cake featuring alternating black tiers for added drama and impact, alongside silver tiers that mirrored the panes of a disco ball. We airbrushed rice paper sails with different hues of pink (and a subtle sheen for extra sparkle), adding a contrasting and fabulous feel to the black tiers.

They asked for a head-turner of a wedding cake, and that’s exactly what they got 💫

The gorgeous Pantone colour of the year was added to my go to sugarpaste @couturesugarpaste, to achieve this beautiful light Mocha Mousse shade. The perfect base and contrast to some fabulous wafer paper ruffles, baroque detailing and a little touch of hand painted gold.
