As the days start stretching out again and we are finally seeing a little more sunshine (hooray), it feels like the perfect time to revisit Rod and Linda’s Summer Solstice wedding at @the_pig_hotels at Combe last year.

Full blown summer. Country house party energy. Beautiful florals, warm light, incredible atmosphere and the most joyful, laid back celebration.

And not forgetting the fabulous luxe cake and homemade marshmallows ready for toasting over the fire on the last slide. Yum!!

Creating unapologetic, showpiece wedding cakes is where I thrive. It’s what I do best and what I absolutely LOVE.

Whether it’s an intricate, ornate classic that exudes timeless grandeur, like Linda and Rod’s royal-esque cake for their day at @the_pig_hotels last year… or a bold, modern piece of architectural edible art.

I love creating cakes that say look at me.
That make a statement.
That command presence in the room.

And to create a true showpiece, you have to go far beyond the obvious.

You have to hone right in on the tiniest details of a couple’s day. Not just the overall look, but the finer details.

The fabrics, tones and structure within the bride’s gown, bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen’s attire.
The exact blooms chosen to dress the space.
The lighting in the venue. The exact spot where the cake will be displayed.
The textures, the patterns, the mood, the atmosphere. And, of course, getting to know the couple themselves.

Every tiny element can be used to create perfect synergy between the cake, the couple, the décor and the venue.

I adore making sugar flowers.
